What is the DIN Properties Dictionary?
The DIN Properties Dictionary is an electronic dictionary of properties to be used in trade,
industry and associations for describing products and services.

cycle
- Is based on the ISO 13584 and IEC 61360 information models and conforms to the DIN 4002
standards series
- Is developed and operated by
Paradine GmbH on behalf of , the
German Institute for Standardization (DIN)
Trade, industry and associations are collaborating at NSM to draw up standardized properties
according to DIN 4002-100 and standardized properties lists accoding to DIN 4002-101 for the
description and designation of products, and are making them available in the form of an online
database.
The special aspect of standardized properties and property lists made available online lies
in their up-to-date and binding nature. They increase process comprehensiveness at companies using
this facility and permit closer IT-based links between customers and suppliers in the areas of
development and supply. This in turn leads to cost savings by way of cuts in the number of required
parts and shorter product-development time frames.
Advantages for the customer
- Shorter product-development time frames
- Higher quality of the developed products
- Lower costs as result of cross-manufacturer comparability of product information
Advantages for manufacturers and suppliers
- Basis for the implementation of new channels of distribution
- Support in cooperative development processes
- Market advantage thanks to direct, wide-ranging access to markets throughout the world
- Avoid mulitple data preperation for different customers
The DIN Properties Dictionary is operated by
Paradine GmbH, Vienna on behalf of the
German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
