DIN signs cooperative agreement with eCl@ss - Berlin

The close contacts between the DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. and eCl@ss e.V. are thus continued to strengthen
The main goals of the agreement are:
- Contribution of eCl@ss structure elements (characteristics, application classes and areas of
application) into national standardization process,
- Standardization of eCl@ss structure elements and integration into the DIN-property dictionary
at DINsml.net,
- Submission of the structural elements into international standardization,
- Establishment of cooperation between the DIN working comitees and the eCl@ss section with the
request to accelerate standardization processes and to increase quality of structure
elements
Through the long-term cooperation the number of structure elements in DINsml.net shall be
increased to enlarge usage and acceptance of the DIN property dictionary.
Information about eCl@ss :
eCl@ss is a hierarchical system for grouping materials, products and services according to a
logical structure with a level detail that corresponds to the product-specific properties that can
be described using norm-conforming properties (www.eclass.de). Products and services can be allocated to the
four-stage, numeric eCl@ss class structure. Search terms and synonyms permit targeted sourcing
of products and services within the classification. Property bars with standardized properties and
value tables enable accurate description and subsequent identification of products and
services.
